Circuit 3 – The Great Cavern Route is one of the official visitor paths at Machu Picchu that explores the lower section of the Inca citadel and leads to one of its most mysterious and less-visited temples — the Temple of the Moon, also known as the Great Cavern.
Starting from the lower sector near the Sacred Rock, this route descends along forested trails around the base of Huayna Picchu Mountain, away from the main crowds.
