Types of Machu Picchu tickets

There are several different types of Machu Picchu Tickets available for 2024:

Tickets cannot be purchased at the entrance to Machu Picchu, and must be purchased from an authorized ticket distributor or directly from the Ministry of Culture.

General tickets for Machu Picchu are limited to 3,000 per day, while combined ticket types (excluding the Museum) are limited to only 400 per day.

What is the difference of the tickets for Machu Picchu?

The 7 types of tickets include the entrance to the Inca city of Machu Picchu, in addition to other incredible experiences. To visit the Wonder of the World you will have to choose one of these tickets.

Below we will detail what is included in each of the Machu Picchu entrance tickets, to help you decide which one to choose. Remember that the type of ticket you choose will determine the type of experience you will have at the Wonder of the World.

Types of tickets

1. Machu Picchu Solo

This ticket gives you general access to the citadel of Machu Picchu only, with entrance hours from 6 am to 6 pm. You can enter and leave Machu Picchu as many times as you like during the day. Price 2022: S/. 152 soles (approx. US$ 45).

2. Circuit 4 Huayna Picchu

From 2022, this ticket grants you the entrance to the controlled hike of Huayna Picchu. There are only 400 tickets available per day, which are then divided into 2 entrance schedules for Huayna Picchu: 200 tickets for the entrance from 7 – 8am and 200 tickets from 10 – 11am. Price 2022: S/. 200 soles (approx. 55 dollars).

Remember: This ticket does not include the general entrance to Machu Picchu, for this you have to buy the general ticket.

3. Circuit 4 Huchuy Picchu

Huchuy Picchu is the small mountain that is located between the citadel of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu, is located at the entrance of the climb to Huayna Picchu.

4. Circuit 3 Machu Picchu Mountain

This ticket grants you general access to the citadel of Machu Picchu from 6am – 6pm, and entrance to the controlled walk of the Machu Picchu Mountain also known as Machu Picchu Mountain. There are only 400 tickets available per day for this type of ticket, with an entry time of 7 – 11am for Machu Picchu Mountain. Price 2020: S/. 200 soles (approximately US$ 55).

5. Temple of the Moon + Machu Picchu: Not Available

This type of ticket allows you to visit the famous Temple of the Moon, which is located in the middle of the city.

6. Inca bridge + Machu Picchu: Not Available

This ticket allows you to visit the famous Inca bridge that is located 30 minutes walk from the citadel of Machu Picchu.

7. Sun Gate + Machu Picchu: Not Available

The Sun Gate is a place that can only be visited by people who make the Inca Trail, but with this ticket we can know it, it is about 30 minutes walk, located on the left side of the mountain Machu Picchu.

8. Machu Picchu + Museum – Optional

This ticket gives you general access to the citadel of Machu Picchu from 6am – 6pm, and entrance to the Machu Picchu Museum. The ticket is only valid for one day and the date indicated on the ticket.

The museum is located on the bus road between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu, just before you cross the bridge and start climbing the mountain. Named after the late archaeologist who lived in Machu Picchu (Manuel Chávez Ballón), the museum was reopened in October 1992 after a long period of closure. Major exhibits include artifacts recovered from Machu Picchu since it was rediscovered in 1911 (some as recent as 2004), as well as some pre-Columbian items. The museum is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm. Price 2020: 150 soles (approximately 45 USD).
